Spring beauties

After what felt like the longest winter on earth, spring has sprung. Blossoms are blossoming, the sun is shining and – dare we say it – a little bit warm. It’s got to be spring.

Yes, yes, we know it’s going to get arctic next week just as we’ve popped the winter clothes away and turned the £900/minute heating off. No matter. We’re here to talk spring hair and there are lots of new lewks for you. Here’s what you can look forward to in this instalment:

  1. Bobs and bangs

  2. Top of the crops

  3. Daniel gets very popular

  4. New hairdressers, welcome

  5. New product klaxon

Ready for a read? Then we’ll begin.

1. Strong bobs. Strong bangs

So the blunt cut bob is definitely our thing for spring. You’re going to want Emma, Claire, Stephen and Daniel to have had lots of restful sleep the night before because this cut demands a steady snip to cut a pin-straight line in with no layers.

The brilliant thing about this style howevs, is its versatility. Classic or edgy, the blunt bob suits loads of hair types, aaaaand, if you’re into this, it’s very good at defining your jaw. Which, if you’re on soshe as much as we’re on soshe, you’ll know jawlines are big beauty news. In real terms, it just means it’s pretty flattering.

Match this with that age-defying wonder: the fringe. And you’ve got one of our fave new hairdo’s, that you can tousle up for a bed head or beach look, dry straight for sleekness, and even twirl with tongs if that’s your thing. Flexible, isn’t it?

2. The French crop

As modelled by our very own Daniel, boy crops are tres a la mode. The thing about a French Crop is that you can go short but keep it longer on top, you can go super super short like the footballers do, or you can take a nice easy middle-of-the-rue approach and keep it tapered but with a little more on top, just like our Daniel has done. If you’ve got an itch to transform yourself, we can’t recommend this boy crop enough. It’s also pretty good at taking a few years off … not that we don’t love you just as you are. The trick is to keep the top short, and we like a fade effect so it’s just the right side of sexy, not shorn.

3. Daniel, Daniel, Daniel

If you’ve gone online to book a cut and colour this month, you might have thought, ‘Gosh, he’s busy, I can’t get in!’ Well, Dan’s diary was filling up quicker than a glass of rose on a sunny day, so we’ve taken him off the system for a bit. If you want to book a session with him, just call the salon. We promise his diary is open, just not available to book online. Here they are going on a hot hol, pre the French Crop…

4. New hairdressers, welcome

We’re still on the lookout for a hairdresser to come and cut with us in our lovely village salon. Is that you? There’s a nice little vid here, and there’s lots of lovely benefits and training…

5. New Lovely Things Alert

We can’t get enough of a product that helps us achieve better blow dry, and Kevin.Murphy always delivers on things that look great in your hair, and lush on the bathroom shelf, too.

We’ve also welcomed in a new jewellery brand to the salon! Don’t forget to have a peek in and treat yourself, as they’re all handmade by Stephen’s friend out of sterling silver and brass, and make a lovely treat (It’s Mother’s Day on Sunday, people).

Last but not least, we made it easier to tip. Just point your phone at the QR code and you’ll be taken to a nifty new way to leave a smile on your hairdressers faces. Easy.

See you next month, x
